Extracurriculars

There are a number of ways for cadets to optionally get more involved in Air Force ROTC. These activities are ways for a cadets to develop themselves personally, professionally, and socially. All cadets are encouraged to get involved with at least one of these activities if they are able. Involvement shows motivation and initiative and can provide outstanding leadership experience.


Arnold Air Society
Arnold Air Society (AAS) is a professional service organization for Air Force ROTC and Academy cadets. Cadets in AAS have the opportunity to serve the community, develop professional skills, and network with other cadets on a local, area, and national level. Every year, AAS cadets can go to both area and national conferences. The AAS unit at Det. 195 is the Lt Col Francis Richard Scobee Squadron. New members are inducted every fall (and spring if there is sufficient interest).


Stryker Drill Team
The Stryker Drill Team performs advanced and specialized drill movements and routines, usually with parade rifles. The drill team usually meets after every Leadership Lab, and sometimes holds additional practices throughout the week.


Cadet Honor Guard
The Cadet Honor Guard provides color guard, honor guard, and related services to the detachment and community. They perform sword arches at the detachment military ball and weddings, color guards at school and community events, and more. Membership is based on participation in honor guard events. Practices are scheduled as needed.


Special Operations Club
The Det 195 Special Operations Club is: dedicated to physical training, warrior ethos, and the development of warrior ethos. Members learn about Military Special Operations, fitness, and nutrition, all while developing an outstanding character.


Warhawks Booster Club
The newly-formed cadet booster club, named the Warhawks after our detachment mascot, is responsible for a number of events throughout the year for the benefit of the cadet wing. these will include the Northwester football games fundraiser, Notre Dame basketball tournament, Boston university Drill & Military Excellence Competition, Air Force Marathon, and many more.
